Help me finish my app.
I'm a solo developer in Chicago. BiloChat is an iPhone app that teaches Spanish or English through the texting you already do, with an AI coach that catches mistakes before you hit send.
It works — but I've only really tested it on myself, which is the worst possible sample. Two weeks of real use and honest feedback from you is worth more than another month of me guessing.
What testing involves
- iPhone required. The beta runs on iOS 18 (iPhone XS or newer, updated). Installed via Apple's TestFlight — free, official, nothing sketchy.
- Free, the whole way through. Everything the app will eventually charge for is unlocked for testers, for the whole beta.
- Real use, not marathon sessions. Open the app on at least 4 different days each week — a few minutes each time is genuinely fine. Send messages, try the practice quizzes.
- One short form per week. About 10 minutes each, at the end of week 1 and week 2. Thoughtful answers, including negative ones.
- Honesty over politeness. "This is confusing" and "I'd never use this" are far more useful to me than praise.
Apply to test
Takes about 3 minutes. I'm selecting ~12 testers for a mix of levels and native languages — thoughtful answers to the two short-text questions are what get you picked. Selected testers get a TestFlight invite by email.
The honest fine print: during the beta I review usage stats and may read messages sent inside the test build to verify activity; treat beta messages as practice text, not private correspondence. This is product testing and feedback — it is not connected to App Store ratings or reviews in any way.
Program terms. By applying and participating you agree to these:
- Applying doesn't guarantee selection — spots are limited and selection is at my sole discretion.
- You must be 18 or older to participate.
- Testing is voluntary and unpaid. This is not employment, and not a contractor or agency relationship.
- I may remove any tester from the program at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice.
- I may change, pause, or end the program at any time.
- The beta is unfinished software provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind — it may break, lose data, or change without notice. Use at your own risk.
- Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions you submit may be used freely to improve the product.
- Apple's TestFlight terms also apply. These terms are governed by Illinois law.
